Aspiring model makes it for Shout magazine

Chanelle Muscat, 12, of Tarxien, is the winner of the Campaign to Search for a Shout Fashion Model. The title means that Chanelle, an aspiring model, will be travelling to London in December for a photo session which will then feature in the fashion pages of the award-winning UK teen magazine.

Shout is a fortnightly magazine which sells an average of 84,000 copies in the UK and export markets, per issue. The Campaign to Search for a Shout Fashion Model was launched in September, giving any Maltese girl the one-time opportunity to get noticed and become a photo model for its fashion pages.

Out of the hundreds of applications for the title, 100 girls were short-listed as semi-finalists. Once all the 100 girls were professionally photographed, 40 girls were again short-listed as finalists for the title. The first runner-up was Nicola Galea Pace, 13, of Gzira. The third place was a tie between Raissa Cachia, 15, of Zurrieq, and Daniela Debattista, 14, of Mosta.

Chanelle is 155cm tall, with blue eyes and a confident, outgoing and bubbly personality. “At first I thought I was dreaming but when reality hit me I was overjoyed. I couldn’t stop tears of joy from rolling down my cheeks.
I felt very important and for me this was a great achievement. I thought that I was given a great opportunity that each and every girl in Malta would wish for and I was grateful for it. Back home I couldn’t stop thinking about the day when I’ll be on my way to London!
Finally I wish to thank all the people involved in this competition, for making my dream come true. I also would like to recommend all Maltese girls to enter this competition next year because it’s an opportunity of a lifetime!”

Chanelle will travel for the professional photo shoot in London with her mother Doreen, between December 4-5. All expenses are covered by Miller Distributors Limited, local distributors of Shout magazine and organisers of the search in Malta.

“We are very satisfied that we have been able to offer this opportunity for the second year in a row, which may open interesting horizons to girls with a passion for fashion,” said Emma Miller, Marketing Manager for Magazines at Miller Distributors Limited. “The very attractive number of applicants shows there is a demand for this kind of activity which makes us look forward to be in a position to keep on offering similar experiences in the future.”

The main sponsor for the Shout Fashion Model Search is Remington, a leader in professional haircare, shaving and grooming products. The campaign is also supported by The Phoenicia Hotel Floriana, Franks, 89.7 Bay and Models.com. Official photographers were Ben Camille and Andrew D Bugeja.
