Miller Newsprint wins at UK Awards


Miller Newsprint, with The Sunday Times of London, won the Digitally Printed Newspaper of The Year 2013 award at the prestigious Newspaper Awards held at the London Hilton on Wednesday 24th April. The Sunday Times and its sister company Newsprinters won a further 4 awards including News Photograph of the year with John Cantle ‘s harrowing photograph of a young Somalian refugee suffering from cholera and malnutrition. Agenda Kids Club celebrates World Kids Colouring Day


‘World Kids Colouring Day’ is an initiative by Staedtler and is organised every year in many countries around the world with the aim to raise funds for children in need. In 2010, over 750,000 young artists around the globe took part – from North America to Japan and even as far away as Australia. In Malta, the Agenda Kids Club also celebrated World Kids Colouring Day. For the fifth year running, Agenda Kids Club marked this event by organising a colouring party for its members during which they could discover or rediscover how much fun colouring can be whilst at the same time, playing an active role in helping a good cause. The Grand Book Sale supports Puttinu Cares


The Grand Book Sale, organised by Agenda Bookshop, took place at Pjazza Tigne just outside The Point Shopping Centre in Sliema, between Saturday 30th March and Saturday 6th April 2013. During this week-long event a large marquee was set up at Pjazza Tigne selling thousands of books at greatly reduced prices. This year, Agenda Bookshop teamed up with the local children’s cancer support foundation ‘Puttinu Cares’ by means of a €5,000 donation towards this worthy cause. This donation was presented during the ‘Puttinu Cares’ marathon, on Sunday 5th May 2013, at The Marsa Sports Grounds. Miller Distributors Limited invests in Renewable Energy


Miller Distributors Ltd has invested in a JA Solar & SMA PV system from Solar Solutions Ltd to generate clean energy. The system consists of 126 x 245W Solar Poly Crystalline modules and 3 x  Central Inverters. Energy generation is expected to reach 50,000kWh per annum. Agenda Bookshop Celebrates World Book Day


World Book Day was celebrated worldwide on Thursday 7th March 2013. World Book Day is a celebration of authors, illustrators, books and most importantly, it’s a celebration of reading. In fact, it’s the biggest event of its kind, designated by UNESCO as a worldwide celebration of books and reading, and marked in over 100 countries all over the world.  To mark the occasion, Agenda Bookshops offered 25% off ALL books on the day. ‘Mikiel’, the popular Kids Club mascot, paid a visit to St Monica School, Gzira as well as St Michael’s School, San Gwann. Simon Scarrow, international best-selling author, visited Malta between Friday 16th and Sunday 18th November 2012. Agenda Bookshop held two book signing events at The Point – Sliema, and The Plaza – Sliema.
